The XII South American Games Asunción 2022 are held in Paraguay, from October 1 to 15, and have the participation of 4,698 athletes from the 15 countries that make up the South American Sports Organization (ODESUR). Argentina participates with a delegation of 592 athletes (289 women and 303 men) who will compete in the 36 disciplines that make up the program, of that total there are 70 athletes from Santa Fe who will compete in 29 disciplines.
In this regard, Secretary of Sports Florencia Molinero, who participated in the Opening Ceremony, held on Saturday at the Defensores del Chaco Stadium, stressed that “we are accompanying the Argentine delegation in this important sporting event, and also meeting with athletes from Santa Fe that represent our country in many of the disciplines that the competition has.”
Molinero also highlighted that “we presented to the ODESUR General Assembly the balance of what were the Rosario 2022 South American Youth Games, an international event that we were proud to host in our province in the month of May, with great success and very good results, especially in the legacy of sports infrastructure that remains for the city of Rosario and the province of Santa Fe”, highlighted the provincial official.

BRONZE FOR CASADEVALL
María Luz Casadevall won the bronze medal in the weightlifting specialty, on the second day of competition. Casadevall, in the 59-kilogram category, lifted a total of 208 kilos, with 91 in the snatch and 117 in the clean and jerk, with which she set new national records in clean and jerk and total weight.
The athlete from San Jorge managed to lift 91 kilos in the first snatch attempt, but then she couldn’t both times she tried the 94. However, in the clean and jerk, she had a perfect presentation, completing the attempts of 111, 114 and 117 kilos.
