One bronze and two fourth places for Judo Zamora in the Spanish Cup

J’s teamudo Caja Rural de Zamoraformed by components of the Morales club and the Gokyo club, returned with a bronze and two fourth places from the Cantabrian town of Suances, where the II Children’s and Cadet Judo Cup of Spain was held. The Zamoran and Moraline judokas left the flag high in a competition in which, in addition to national athletes, France, Germany, Croatia and Panama, among others, gathered as guests.

Elena Bahamonde, a first year cadet, took part in -44kg. She was winning fights until appearing in the semifinals where she fell with one of the current national medalists and later the bronze was disputed in a very close fight that Elena could not overcome. With this fourth place she obtains her first points in the National ranking.

For his part, Sergio Rodrigo, in -50kg, fell in the second round and qualified for the repechage by winning the first match. In the second, when he was leading the initiative, a strange action caused him to lose the match.

There was also Rubén de Castro in -55 kg who, after advancing several rounds, was eliminated in the fight that gave him the pass to enter the fights for the medals.

In the -60 kg category was Raúl Fernández, who would also fall in the first rounds, while Diego Bruña in the -66 kg category who managed to advance in some of the initial rounds and Álvaro del Arco fell in the second round and bad luck He did not enter the playoffs.

Finally, the joy of the expedition was given by Sara Ventosa in -63k. Although the beginning was not good at all because she lost her first fight due to a mistake and that separated her from being able to opt for the final, she knew how to recover and began to perform the judo that she knows how to do, winning fight after fight until she reached the bronze dispute where in a very tough combat he finally won the victory and that bronze medal that makes our Judoka be among the top ten in the National ranking.

CHILDREN’S TURN

Until Cantabria they were also children. María Bahamonde -44kg, she paid for her inexperience, she fell in the first round entering the repechage where she had no chance to overcome any round.

Nicolás del Arco -38kg, also a first year, was eliminated in the second round and entered the playoffs, in a close fight that he ended up losing, while Noa Vicente -52kg, did not have his day and could not overcome the first.

Finally, Juan Meana -50kg, was about to get on the podium. He was winning rounds until he appeared in the semifinal that he could not overcome and in the bronze match he was about to score, but it could not be. With this fourth place Juan also gets his first points in the National ranking.

With a positive balance, the Suances expedition returns because with that bronze medal and the two fourth places, the Judo Morales club has three judokas in the National ranking and one of them among the 10 best.
