Asunción, IP Agency.- On the last day of competitions, Paraguay finished runner-up in Beach Volleyball and Men’s Basketball at the Odesur 2022 Games.
In the first place, the duo made up of Giuliana Poletti and Laura Ovelar played an exciting match in the arena of the Los Pynandi World Cup Stadium, which was packed with Paraguayan fans. There they achieved second place in this modality. The gold went to Brazil.
The runners-up were very excited about the result and appreciated the massive encouragement of the public. “Our goal was always to get a medal,” Ovelar emphasized.
In that order, they also encouraged young people to practice sports and thus raise the tricolor flag.
Outstanding participation in men’s basketball
On the other hand, the boys from Team Paraguay basketball, with the encouragement of their people who filled the stands of Arena SND, achieved a convincing victory from 99 to 64 against Panama, to ensure the silver medal for the host delegation.
The gold in this sport went to Chile, while the bronze went to Colombia.
The Paraguayans recorded one defeat and three victories at the Odesur 2022 Games. Initially they won their match against Bolivia, then they fell against Chile, later they won against Colombia and Panama.
With these results, Paraguay currently has 47 medals, of which seven are gold, 26 silver and 14 bronze.
