PEC Zwolle has managed to recapture second place in the first division in an unconvincing way. In the Galgenwaard, bottom line Jong Utrecht was defeated 1-0. With this, PEC passes MVV, which won 3-1 against Den Bosch on Saturday.
PEC now has two points less (26 against 28) than leader Heracles Almelo, which won a victory over FC Eindhoven (3-0) on Friday. On Friday, PEC will play at home against number three MVV, which has 24 points.
Besides Jong Utrecht, all other U23 teams from the Kitchen Champion Division played at home tonight. Young PSV took out against Helmond Sport. It was 6-0. Young Ajax played a draw against VVV-Venlo (1-1) tonight. Jong AZ and Telstar also shared the points (0-0).
Johan Bakayoko, Savio, Mathijs Tielemans (2x), Simon Colyn and Jason van Duiven scored for PSV. Ajax’s goal was made by Christian Rasmussen. VVV scored through Sven Braken.

The fact that the Galgenwaard stands were fairly empty was a good thing. Jong Utrecht and PEC made it a colorless and sloppy spectacle, especially in the first half.
PEC had the upper hand in this first company, had opportunities, but did not come up with great opportunities. Young FC Utrecht occasionally knocked on the door, but played off attacks sloppily, so that the talents from Utrecht did not create great opportunities.
At the start of the second half, the game got a little more entertaining. PEC still had more ball possession and insisted, but Jong Utrecht managed to become dangerous a few times in the counterstroke. Derensili Sanches Fernandes and former PEC player Eliano Reijnders got the chance to score.
However, it was PEC that scored the only goal of the game. Thomas van den Belt scored from a free kick. The people of Zwolle did not play better football after the goal, but they did win the game.
