Philippe Clement and Monaco record fifth win in a row against Montpellier, Jonathan David (ex-Ghent) beats Red Devil Lois Openda

Philippe Clement and Monaco took the measure of Montpellier on the tenth match day of the Ligue 1 with 0-2 on Sunday. Breel Embolo (45.+1) and Myron Boadu (80.) kicked the Monegasques to a fifth consecutive victory in a row. After ten match days, Monaco remains in fifth place with twenty points, six points behind leader PSG.

After victories against Nice, Lyon, Nantes and Reims, Clement hoped to continue the good line against middle-class Montpellier. The Swiss striker Breel Embolo put his team on the right track just before half-time with a hard bang in the roof of the goal. Only ten minutes before the whistle, Monaco managed to extend its lead. The young Dutchman Boadu put the final score on the board. Eliot Matazo remained on the bench for the entire match.

Openda suffers first competition defeat with Lens at Lille

Lens lost with the smallest difference on the field of Lille on Sunday evening on the tenth match day in the Ligue 1.

Jonathan David (ex-Ghent) scored the only goal from the spot just before half-time. After fifteen minutes, Florian Sotoca had missed a penalty for the visitors, where Loïs Openda played the entire game.

After the first season loss (after six wins and three draws), Lens remains fourth in the standings with 21 points, five less than leader PSG. Lille is seventh with 16 points.

Stade Rennes have continued their unbeaten run against Nantes, which lost 3-0 in Brittany. Amine Gouiri (26.) broke open the match in the Roazhon Park and Martin Terrier (80.) and Desire Doue (84.) deepened the lead in the end. First win for Matz Sels and co.

Still in France, Matz Sels and Strasbourg won 2-3 against Angers. It is the very first victory of the season for the Belgian goalkeeper’s club.

Kevin Gameiro, once international for France, set Strasbourg on the right track early in the game. Adrien Hunou restored the balance not much later. Thanks to an own goal by Miha Blazic and a goal by Habib Diallo, the visitors collected a double bonus. That turned out to be enough for the win. Blazic corrected his own goal at the end of the game, but his goal was not enough to keep Strasbourg from a first win of the season.

With the win, Strasbourg has eight points and jumps from last to fourteenth place in the standings.

Maximiliano Caurfriez also played today. At Clermont Foot, the 25-year-old defender stood between the lines for 90 minutes. The former STVV player beat Auxerre 2-1. With the win, Clermont has sixteen points, good for sixth place in the standings.
