PSG-Juventus: a heavy fine but no camera for the smoke bombs

The pyrotechnic show played by the Auteuil bend will have no more consequences than a heavy fine for PSG. More than a month after the Parisian victory over Juventus Turin (2-1) at the Parc des Princes and the numerous smoke bombs lit in the stands at the entrance of the two teams, the UEFA Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday inflicted 62 A fine of 250 euros for the club of the capital, including 34,250 euros for the smoke bombs, 18,000 euros for “blocking the traffic lanes of spectators” and 10,000 euros for “provocative message”.

According to Pierre Barthélemy, a lawyer for several supporters’ associations, this marks UEFA’s new policy of no longer inflicting behind closed doors after the use of “festive” pyrotechnics. The European body will only take the decision to suspend stands or enclosures in the event of smoke bombs being thrown towards the lawn.

PSG will therefore be able to play their last two home games of the group stage with a full stadium. It starts this Tuesday evening against Benfica (9 p.m.) before the reception of Maccabi Haifa on October 25. In addition, UEFA is still investigating the “discriminatory incidents” that occurred during the same PSG-Juventus in the visitor parking lot reserved for Italian supporters. Some of whom were filmed performing Nazi salutes and giving monkey shouts.
