Nearly ten days before the November 1 NFL trade deadline, some NFL wide receivers may have more and more reason to believe that they will change addresses by then.
While some teams will be looking to clean up before starting a rebuild, others might just be looking to get rid of problem cases within their team. Here are three high-profile receivers who are likely to put on a new uniform in November:
Chase Claypool, Steelers de Pittsburgh
The great Canadian receiver seems to have truly become the third option for the Steelers, behind Diontae Johnson and George Pickens. In six games in 2022, Claypool has been targeted 36 times, catching 23 of his balls for 225 yards, numbers similar to Pickens and tight end Pat Freiermuth. The first, however, has been given more and more responsibility since the start of the season, while the second has similar statistics with one less game played. “A few general managers I have spoken to are certain that [les Packers de] Green Bay are looking for help at the position of receiver on the exchange market, “even said journalist Jeremy Fowler, of the network ESPN, after the sixth week of activities in the NFL, referring particularly to Claypool, who had just catch seven fly balls for 96 yards and a major against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
DJ Moore, Carolina Panthers
Nothing is going well for the Panthers, who recently fired head coach Matt Rhule, and a rebuild seems inevitable. The team also sent enigmatic and controversial receiver Robbie Anderson to the Arizona Cardinals on Monday. Moore, who is a less problematic case than his former teammate, could however suffer the same fate. At 25, he is still young and exceptionally talented, having cleared 1,100 yards through the air in each of the last three seasons. The chemistry between him and center Baker Mayfield never seemed to form with the Panthers, and he has just 20 catches for 204 yards through six games this season.
Elijah Moore, Jets de New York
Seen as a top prospect after his rookie season in 2021, Moore seems to have become persona non grata in the underutilized Big Apple. Targeted 29 times in six games by the Jets’ pivots, the 22-year-old athlete caught 16 passes for 203 yards. He hit rock bottom in his team’s last game against the Packers on Sunday, when he was only targeted once in a game that ultimately didn’t count in the official league stats. NFL since it was canceled due to a penalty. The recipient did not hesitate to send cryptic messages, via his Twitter account, to express his dissatisfaction. The NFL Network even revealed that he would have asked to be traded on Thursday, he who missed the practice of his family for “personal reasons”.
