In air pistol shooting, Latvia was represented in the final tournament of the European Youth League by students of Dobele sports school Sanija Didže, Dmitrija Ivanovs, Elīza Rasiņa and Daniels Vilciņš (coach Vilnis Celminņš) and students of Daugavpils sports school Anastasija Goršelatova and Denis Trikoličs (coach Yevgenija Goršalatova). The youth league competition takes place only in team evaluation. Six athletes could apply for the final tournament, but in each start the team consisted of four athletes.

In the competition of its subgroup, the Latvian team won all its rivals – athletes from Poland (26 against 22), Spain (30 against 18) and Sweden (31 against 17), thus gaining the right to fight for gold in the final tournament of the European Youth League with the winner of the other subgroup – the Italian team for medals.

In the competition for gold medals, the Italian youth were stronger with a score of 82 to 54. As a result, Latvian youth won the honorable 2nd place and silver medals.

In general, the European Youth League competition is organized in three regions and consists of three stages – a qualifying period lasting until March, during which the 5 best teams in each region were determined in both pistol and rifle competitions. Teams from Estonia, Latvia, Norway, Poland and Sweden entered the finals of the Northern region in air pistol shooting. In the regional finals, all teams competed against each other, which meant four starts in two days. 8 teams enter the finals of the European Youth League – the 2 best teams from each region, one 3rd place winning team and the country that organizes the final tournament. In 2022, the final tournament was organized by Hungary.
