South Americans: Venezuela prepares for judo and athletics

There are six days left until the end of the Asunción 2022 South American Games and both Brazil (177) and Colombia (142), have been the kings of this great event, leaving the rest of the countries that are in competition far below, as is the case from Venezuela, who is fifth in the medal table with 62 medals

Chile (70 in total with 22 gold) and Argentina (89 in total and 20 gold) are located in the third and fourth boxes, respectively. On the other hand, Venezuela, with 14 gold, has not added more gold since last Wednesday, October 5.

That day, the country won five medals in a row thanks to Jennifer Cesar and Orluis Aular in cycling, Andrés Madera and Yorgelis Salazar in karate and Jhohan Sanguino in weightlifting.

Since then, the positions they have reached have been second and third place, as was the case with Daniel Dhers y Katherine Diaz en BMX Freestely, who recently achieved silver and bronze.

Upcoming subjects

This could change in the coming days when judo and athletics begin and the U20 women’s soccer final is played this Tuesday, La Vinotinto against Las Charruas.

One of the referents of the Venezuelan delegation is the Olympic athlete Anriquelis Barrios in judo. Alongside her are medalists who only a few months ago stood on the podium internationally, such as Amaranta Urdaneta, Carlos Páez, Fabiola Díaz and Elvismar Rodríguez (who will join the team after participating in the World Cup in Tashkent, Uzbekistan ).

Finally, in athletics, the triple world medalist Robeilys Peinado is already preparing to face the South Americans, taking into account that she could not attend the Bolivarians this year due to an injury.

The sisters Edymar and Joselyn Brea, along with Yoveinny Mota, who come from their participation in the World Championships in Athletics and gold in Valledupar 2022, are candidates to reach first place in Asunción 2022.
