The Councilor for Sports of the Puente Genil City Council, José A. Gómez, responded this morning to the call from the Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, asking them to find other facilities more in line with their needs.
He reported that “the club submitted the request in June and we have been working to find a space for them, it is not easy to find it because we cannot dress one saint to undress another, nor can we provide them any day and time.” Regarding the Sánchez Cuenca track “it is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the early afternoon, but they are not viable for the club that demands them on Tuesdays and Thursdays when their monitors travel.” In addition – pointed out Gómez – “they require a tapestry of 14 by 14 square meters, but this track does not have a security perimeter or changing rooms, it is not the most suitable place”. Nor could the tapestry be stored, due to lack of space. The Quini pavilion – he said – which also has no availability. Therefore, from the Sports area, they are “working with the handball club to relocate some of their teams on Tuesdays and Thursdays so that they train elsewhere”, and the gymnastics club can train here, “it has been taking place this work and making bobbin lace»- she clarified.
This situation, said the mayor, “is one more of those that other clubs have been doing such as basketball, futsal, the fencing club, or the hours that the badminton club or the athletics club facilities need to expand… the question it is that in Puente Genil a lot of sport is practiced, being unique in our environment and it has its difficulties». In fact – he pointed out – «we have been demanding from other administrations for years to lend us a hand for the construction of a new sports pavilion, while other politicians said that it was not necessary». So this request “is one more example that it is very necessary that other public administrations lend us a hand and we are capable of building what a municipality of more than 30,000 inhabitants needs.”
