The Blues again on top of the world

The French delegation won seven medals at the World Field Archery Championships in Yankton (United States).

See you in Yankton, in the heart of South Dakota. For a week, the French delegation was amazed in a superb setting. The opportunity for the Blues to compete in the World Field Archery Championships, one of the highlights of this end of the year on the archery planet. As often in international competitions, France shone, winning no less than seven medals.

By teams first, Antoine Balanant and Audrey Machinet faced Italy in the U21 Recurve Gold Final. Neck and neck with the Italians on the first target, the Blues then took the upper hand to clinch the world title. Engaged in the gold final in the senior recurve category, Aurélie Autret and Florent Mulot also met Italy. This time, it was the Transalpins who won, leaving the silver to the French duo. Still in teams, in barebow, David Jackson and Christine Gauthé disputed the small final against the United States. At the end of a close match, the duo ended up winning by a small point and hanging the bronze medal around their necks.

The double for David Jackson

Individually, after being crowned 3D world champion last month in Terni, David Jackson found himself fighting once again for gold yesterday. For this confrontation at the top, the French archer found the Italian Eric Esposito. The Frenchman wins (49-47). The archer thus maintains his status as king of the barebow and puts an end to an exceptional season. Medalist alongside Jackson in mixed, Christine Gauthé was also involved in the gold final in individual against Cinzia Noziglia (Italy). The Frenchwoman, however, had to settle for the money.

In recurve, Aurélie Autret, who played in the women’s small final, left Yankton with the bronze medal after a hotly contested match against Jindriska Vaneckova (Czech Republic). Finally, in U21, Antoine Balanant is also rewarded with bronze after a close match against the Italian Matteo Borsani.
