The Playoffs – Week seven of College Football holds good surprises

It was quite a weekend at College Football! With top-notch games, falling favorites and memorable plays marked week seven of the season. There are still several undefeated teams in the top 25: Georgia (7-0), Ohio State (6-), who was off this week, Clemson (7-0), Michigan (7-0), Ole Miss (7-0), TCU (6-0) and Syracuse (6-0). So, it’s time to look at the best that happened in the games of this round.

With ease, Georgia tramples and should maintain leadership of the AP ranking

In preseason, Vanderbilt coach Clark Lea called the Commodores “the best team in America.” Well, the team arrived to face Georgia, away from home, already with a dubious record: 3-3. And when you find yourself with the true “best team in America”, chaos can ensue. And that’s what we saw with a resounding 55-00 for the Bulldogs.

Stetson Bennett finished the match with 24 passes in 30 attempts. He racked up a total of 289 yards and two touchdowns. Life was so smooth that there was time for reserve Carson Beck to come in and throw two more TDs. Georgia only conceded one punt during the entire match. It was a performance to solidify the position of the number one team.

“We are not King Kong on top of the Empire State Building. We have to work and run every week, go out there and wait for a dogfight until it’s not one.” commented an enigmatic Bennett after being asked how relieved the team was to have a great performance after three weeks of tight games. Tennessee beats Alabama in game of the year, crowd cheers

Tennessee finally beat Alabama. The Volunteers haven’t beaten Crimson Tide since 2006, but the wait is over. In a fiercely contested match, decided in the last bid, the hosts won by 52 to 49. One of the things that most marked the end of the match was the party that Tennessee fans threw.

Some moves deserve a special mention due to the level of difficulty they needed for their execution. Another worth mentioning is Anthony Richardson. The Florida quarterback wasn’t as steady as he threw the ball, accumulating just 185 yards and a rushing touchdown. It turned out that the Gators were defeated by LSU at home by 45 to 35. However, the QB remembered great scramblers by noting that TD from an incredible 81 rushing yards.

Closing the week’s moves, how about a tour of FCS? In the second tier of College Football USA, Montana was eventually defeated by the Idaho team, 30-23, but saw its second-year wide receiver, Junior Berger, make one of the receptions of the year in the match.
