Union succeeds in fewer new stunt after 0-2 deficit: Club swallows bitter draw Jupiler Pro League

Jupiler Pro LeagueMadness in the Duden Park. Union was 0-2 behind Club early with ten men, but in the end still managed to get one point out of the fire. A draw that arrives at the Bruggelingen.

Top football on Saturday evening, it doesn’t happen often in the Jupiler Pro League. Union and Club faced each other again for the first time since the nerve-wracking title battle in an atmospheric Duden Park. Hoefkens opted for a 4-3-3 with Meijer on right back and Skov Olsen and Buchanan in support of Jutglà. Sowah got so rest. Van der Heyden was missing from Union – Geraerts placed Sykes in the three-man defence.

Skov Olsen in the first minute

The squatter immediately delivered what was expected of it. After barely thirty seconds Meijer pushed through on the left. The Dutchman served Skov Olsen, who kept the overview and blasted the ball past Moris. A dream start for Club, which only took the lead three times last season deep into the game. On the fifteenth minute, the national champion set up a new great action. Buchanan was knocked over by Adingra on his way to the 0-2. The verdict for Union was harsh. Penalty and red, D’hondt decided after the intervention of the VAR. Vanaken doubled the lead from the spot.

Union felt cheated, but it didn’t take long before the home team straightened out. Thanks in part to Lapoussin’s input, it was difficult to see from the half hour on who was actually playing with ten. In the 32nd minute, Burgess set the Duden Park ablaze with a good header from a corner. Club was upset – Mignolet prevented worse before half time with some good interventions. At the end of an amazing first half, blue-black still led 1-2.

Ten Unionists don’t fold

At the restart, peace returned for a moment. Club temporarily took control, Vanaken should have quickly made the 1-3. The playmaker infiltrated well and placed a withdrawn ball rather atypically wide in one time. Blauw-Zwart needed a third goal – Union still visibly believed in the equalizer. Hoefkens threw two fresh forces into the field with Yaremchuk and Lang, shortly after Jutglà had to decide the match in turn on the counterattack.

Club made it difficult for itself – the Bruges residents hardly got around to playing football, despite the numerical majority. Union charmed, but there were no big chances after the break. Ten minutes before pressing in, it was still worth it. Lapoussin threw the ball towards the far post, where Nieuwkoop headed in overhoeks. Union in seventh heaven, Club Brugge in sackcloth and ashes.

In the final phase it could have gone either way, even though there was really only one team that deserved the victory. Vanaken had another good chance to head the ball, but his attempt went far wide. In the end, it remained 2-2 – a point that Union celebrated extensively with good reason. Under family match conditions, the draw for blue and black was actually an embarrassment.
