Wheelchair Basketball: The new Serie A kicks off on Saturday

146 days after that May 22 that saw the triumph of the Briantea84 at the end of a spectacular championship final on Amicacci Abruzzo, the top wheelchair basketball championship restarts on Saturday 15 October with the first day of the regular season.

Serie A 2022/2023 will consist of twelve teamsdivided into two groups of six, composed taking into account the ranking of the last season (with the exception of the two newly promoted HS Varese e Young and Tenaciouswhose group they belonged to was drawn on 11 July last).

They will qualify for the quarter-finals the first four classified of each group, who will meet in home and away matches (scheduled for 11 and 18 February) to determine the four Scudetto semi-finalists.

The semifinals (starting February 25) will be played with the formula of the series at the best of three games. Final Scudetto scheduled from April 15 (always best of three games). The fifth and sixth qualifiers in the regular season round will instead be involved in the playout to avoid relegation: there will be two teams that will go down to Serie B.

The match of group A between opens the opening day at 15.30 SBS Montello e GSD Porto Torres: both teams present themselves with few innovations compared to last season: the Bergamo players, returning from ninth place in the last championship, restart with the confirmed Ilario Narra on the bench, while in Sardinia a coach with great experience and palmares like Malik Abes.
