2022 World Cup: Belgium’s second jersey also rejected by Fifa

Obviously, Fifa does not appreciate the colors or the messages. The body led by Gianni Infantino has ordered Belgium to put away its “outside” jersey. Presented last September, the white outfit, motley with many colors on and under the sleeves, will have to be modified, according to rtbf.

Written inside the liquette, it is the word “Love” that is problematic and should be removed. “It’s sad but Fifa leaves us no choice. The rest of the equipment remains unchanged”, regretted Peter Bossaert, CEO of the Belgian federation, to Het Nieuwsblad.

The Belgian logo and the flocking of the players are also tinted with multiple colors. The print is inspired by the fireworks of the electronic music festival Tomorrowland, with which the Belgian federation has collaborated, and “represents the common values of diversity, equality and inclusion”.

Fifa had already opposed the “One love” initiative, an armband that a dozen European nations wanted to wear, including Belgium. The organization that governs international football had invoked the obligation given to captains to wear armbands provided by Fifa. The latter has launched its own armbands related to different causes.

A Danish training shirt had also been rejected by the organization on the grounds that it did not accept political messages on outfits in the context of its competitions. The Danish tunic was flocked with the message “Humans rights for all”.
