68:55 against MBC Lions Halle: Alba women win premiere in the Sömmeringhalle

The women of Alba Berlin celebrated an acclaimed 68:55 home win against the MBC Lions Halle in the basketball Bundesliga. Best thrower for Alba was Deeshyra Thomas with 16 points.

It was a special game for Alba’s basketball players in the Sömmeringhalle in Berlin-Charlottenburg. For the first time in 25 years, an Alba team played where it all began for the club. In front of an attractive crowd of 1,546 basketball fans, the Alba women got off to a good start and quickly took the lead by 8:2. As the game progressed, the flow on the offensive decreased significantly for the Berliners, while the guests got into the game better and better. So it went into the first quarter break with a deficit of 11:17.

As a result, not only Alba leading player Laina Snyder was missing the throwing luck. No three wanted to fall. In addition, Alba made too many turnovers, which is why the gap to MBC remained constant. At the break, the Berliners were 27:34 behind. Both teams got off to a nervous start in the third quarter before Alba got into the game better and reduced the lead to 36:38. But the Alba game remained too flawed and so it went into the last quarter with 43:47.

From there, Alba caught up. A three by Hilke Feldrappe brought Alba up to a point and from that point on the Berliners got stronger and the guests visibly decreased. Three minutes before the end of the game, Alba Berlin took the lead again through an increasingly strong Stefanie Grigoleit. And the Alba women didn’t let themselves be taken away from this lead and in the end celebrated a well-deserved 68:55 home win.
