The international indoor season officially kicks off this weekend in Luxembourg with the first leg of the 2023 Indoor World Series of Archery, scheduled in Strassen from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 November. It is a 250cc event, therefore the least prestigious of the circuit (together with the next round in Taipei), which still assigns important points for qualifying for the Finals in Las Vegas.
The Italian Olympic team has chosen to skip this matchalso because the viewfinder is already aimed at a decisive 2023 in the qualification path for the Five Circles towards Paris 2024. The only blue standard-bearer engaged in Strassen will be Paola Christmas, in the compound division.
Heavy absences also for the other top nations, especially in the recurve, but the participation of some big names such as the Frenchman Thomas Chirault, the British Patrick Huston, the German Felix Wieser and the Dutch Steve Wijler, Laura Van der Winkel and Gaby Schloesser should be noted.
Field starters of the highest level instead in the compound, with many of the best players in the world of this specialty who will battle it out in the Luxembourg event. The most awaited man is inevitably “Mr. Perfect” Mike Schlosserreturning from an almost flawless outdoor season.
