At the end of August, the Saint-André-de-Cubzac badminton club was drafted into the regional championship, in regional 3. After a good season last year, the Cubzaguais could not get the climb for a single point. It was Yvrac who had had this happiness.
The good news came just before the start of the school year.
The coincidence of the calendar wanted the Prud’hommes gymnasium to be the scene of the first interclub day. Saint-André-de-Cubzac, which was therefore discovering this sporting level, was therefore also the host club from the outset in regional 3. This required the club to have great adaptability in order to organize days 1 and 2 of competition.
This mode of organization is a novelty. Because at the departmental level the matches took place in the evening during the week. In regional 3, there will be five competition Sundays, each comprising two championship days.
Thus, this Sunday, October 9, days 1 and 2 took place. In the morning, the opponent of SACB was ASPTT Agen, for day 1. And for day 2, it was the reunion with the rival club of the year, Yvrac. On each day, eight matches take place: two men’s singles, 1 women’s singles, 2 mixed, 1 men’s doubles, 1 women’s doubles.
The captain of the Cubzagua team is Jean-Baptiste Brulhart, who has been ranked among the top 25 French players in the past. He was able to evolve for example in National 1 with his former club, Talence.
The morning went very well as the SACB dominated Agen on the first day with a 7-1 (1) victory. As expected, the second day was tight against Yvrac. At the beginning led, the SACB knew how to reverse the powder by equalizing then leading to finish on a victory 5-3 (2).
At the end of the first two days of the championship, the promoted Saint-André-de-Cubzac is the leader of his group. Next interclub on December 11 in Bordeaux.
