Banksy reappears with seven murals in Ukraine that criticize the invasion

Banksy has reappeared after more than a year to join the demands against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The British urban artist is known for his public protest against the violation of human rights, such as his graffiti in the West Bank, in support of the Palestinian people. This time, the murals of him have been found. in various places in Ukraineincluding kyiv and some of the populations hardest hit by Russian bombing, as reported by the magazine The Art Newspaperaccording to Eph.

The first work appeared last Saturday, November 12 on the wall of a dilapidated building in the city of Borodyanka, on the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital, nine months after the start of the war. Since then, seven murals have appeared that the artist has confirmed as his own, according to the magazine.

The first mural found represents a judo fight between a man and a child. The last one is taking down the adult in the freeze frame, knocking him back to the ground. It is conspired that the man could be a representation of the russian presidentVladimir Putin, who is a black belt in judo, and the boy would represent Ukraine, the youngest nation.

Another mural shows two children playing while using one of the traps used to stop tanks as a seesaw, a common image in the desolate territories, where life continues to make its way. In a third work, painted inside the ruins of a bombed building, appears a gymnast doing a balance exercise while holding on to the rubble.

The place chosen by Banksy to carry out the works is not accidental, since Borodyanka is one of the most devastated cities in Russiabecoming a symbol of this desolation.
