SADIO MANÉ had been included in Senegal’s 26-player roster despite suffering the rupture of a tendon in the right leg.
“The Senegalese Football Federation wishes a speedy recovery to its player Sadio Mané, who was released from the national squad for the Qatar 2022 World Cup“, reported the directors of the African team.
The doctors’ idea was to speed up his recovery with the tournament already underway with the hope that he could participate in the third date of the group stage or, if he qualified, from the round of 16 of the World Cup.
Mané, Silver Ball 2022 for FIFA, was injured last week in the Bundesliga match in which Bayern Munich thrashed Werder Bremen 6-1 at the Allianz Arena stadium.
Senegal is in Group A of Qatar along with the Netherlands, host Qatar and Ecuador.
