Dardzāns continues to be effective in the Finnish volleyball championship

Latvian volleyball player Kristers Dardzāns from Loimas “Hurrikaani” team was the top scorer with 28 points in the Finnish championship match against Kījervi “Kyky-Betset” represented by another Latvian, Aivars Petrušević, the Latvian Volleyball Federation (LVF) informs.

Petrovs scored two points with a serve and was recognized as the player of the match for the second time this season, while Freimanis scored nine points with five blocks and four of eight attacks.

The other three Latvian volleyball players won at home. “Lyon” represented by Vladislava Blumberg defeated Montpellier “France Avenir 2024” 3-1 (25:20, 25:20, 15:25, 25:19). Blumberg scored 10 points, four of them on a block and converting six of seven attacks into points. “Frejus” represented by Atvaras Ozoliņa defeated “Rennes” 3-1 (25:20, 19:25, 25:21, 25:21). Ozoliņš collected 25 points, scoring three with a serve and two with a block, as well as attacking with 69% efficiency. For the third time in the season, the Latvian was recognized as the most valuable player of the match.

“Martigues” with Roman Sauš was also successful, beating “Grand Nancy” 3-0 (25:23, 32:30, 25:16). Sauš did not go to the field. After seven rounds, “Cannes” is in second place with 18 points, “Ajaccio” is in eighth place with eight points, and “Frejus” is in ninth place. Eight points from six matches and the tenth place is Lyon, while the Martiga club occupies the penultimate place among the 12 teams with seven points.

Meanwhile, in the Czech championship, “Kladno” represented by Kristaps Platac suffered a loss as a guest, losing 0-3 (14:25, 18:25, 21:25) to Karlovy Vary ČEZ. Platac became the team’s top scorer with ten points. “Dukla” of Liberec, represented by Pavel Yemeljanova, beat “Lvi” of Prague 3-1 (25:12, 25:22, 23:25, 25:18) at home. Yemelyanovs did not go to the field. With 24 points in ten games, the Liberec team takes second place, while “Kladno” takes fifth place among 13 clubs with 20 points.

In the “PlusLiga” competition, after the first two victories in the Polish championship, the Ukrainian team “Barkom-Kažani” of Lviv, coached by Uģis Krastins, earned another point, which won 2-3 (28:26, 17:25, 25:20, 21:25, 10:15) recognized the superiority of the champion team Kendžežin-Kožle “ZAKSA”. After nine games, the Lviv club is in 12th place in the 16-team competition with nine points.

In the Belgian championship, both teams represented by Latvians suffered a loss at home. “Lindemans” of Renard Paul Jansons of Aalst lost 1-3 (20:25, 26:24, 19:25, 20:25) to “Caruur” of Ghent. Jansson fought back in the third set, scoring one point on two attacks. Ahelas “Tectum” represented by Jānis Medeņas suffered a loss, losing 0-3 (16:25, 14:25, 22:25) to Menenas “Decospan”. Medenis played in the first two sets and scored three points on 11 attacks.

With four points won in four games, “Lindemans” is in sixth place, while “Tectum” is without points after four games and occupies the last place among ten teams. Both teams represented by Latvians celebrated their victory in the Romanian championship. Kristapa Šmita’s “Arcada” from Galacas beat CSM Konstanz 3-0 (25:21, 25:20, 25:23). Schmidt went on court in the second set, scoring one point on six attacks.

On the other hand, Bucharest “Rapid” represented by Edvin Skrüder defeated Cluj-Napoca “Universitatea” 3-0 (25:21, 25:20, 25:23). The Latvian played in the first two sets, being replaced, scoring a point with a serve. “Sporting” Lisbon, represented by Tom Schwan, celebrated the victory of the Portuguese championship at home, defeating “Caldas” 3-1 (25:20, 25:18, 22:25, 25:16). The Latvian volleyball player scored eight points, collecting two points each in a block and with a serve, as well as converting four of 13 attacks into points. With 14 points in seven matches, the capital club ranks sixth among 14 teams.

Nicosia APOEL, represented by Tom Vanag, won the Cypriot championship game, defeating Paralimni “Enosis Neon” 3-1 (25:20, 23:25, 25:16, 25:19) at home. The Hawk played the entire game. With ten points in four games, APOEL has risen to second place among eight teams. On the other hand, both teams represented by Latvian volleyball players experienced losses in the Hungarian women’s championship last week. “MAV Elore” of Szekesfehervar, represented by Elvita Dolotova, lost 1-3 (25:19, 23:25, 19:25, 19:25) to Budapest UTE. In the Swedish championship, “Gislaved” represented by Petra Nechiporuk beat Falköping RIG 3-0 (25:19, 25:22, 25:20). Nechiporuk became the top scorer of the match with 26 points scored in 52 attacks. With nine points in six games, Gislaved ranks sixth among 11 teams.

In the NCAA championship, the team of Arizona State University represented by Martha Lewinsky in the USA extended the losing streak to five games. At home, they first lost 0-3 (23:25, 22:25, 22:25) to Washington State University, and then 2-3 (25:18, 19:25, 16:25, 27:25, 8:15) – for the University of Washington. In the first match, the Latvian player collected 13 points – 12 on the attack and one with the serve, and in the second match Levinska collected 15 points – 12 on the attack and three with the block. “Sun Devils” volleyball players have won 11 victories in 28 matches.
