Dates and disciplines of the JIOI Madagascar 2023

Monday, November 21, the CIJ meeting by videoconference has once again renewed its confidence in Madagascar for the organization of the JIOI 2023. The regional Olympic body has also set the period during which the Big Island will host this major Indian-Oceanic meeting. The Games will take place from August 23 to September 3, 2023.

For this 11th edition, 23 sports disciplines have been selected. Six of them had never been scheduled during previous editions. New disciplines that will enrich the table of JIOI. This is archery, beach soccer, equestrian sport, 3×3 basketball, kick boxing and surfing. A meeting of the CIJ from December 14 to 16 will finalize the technical and general regulations. A visit to the sports facilities and the games village is also planned.

Remember that the Malagasy neighbors inherited the organization of the Games after the withdrawal of the Maldives. Madagascar will thus host the JIOI for the third time in its history after the 1993 and 2007 editions. On the Comorian side, the Government says it wants to be a candidate for the 2027 edition. However, no progress is to be noted in terms of infrastructure.
