Eight technicians in six years on the Olot bench

The 2015-16 season was one of many changes at Olot. In the last day of the league the team consummated at home the relegation to Tercera. They were only worth the victory and a carom of points, but the Garrotx side lost to Atlético Llevant (1-2) and lost the category. This was the end of a three-year period in Segona B, the third tier of state football at the time. He coached the Santi Castillejo team, which in the four months he occupied the Olotin bench, from February to May, could not straighten the course.

The coach from Navarre would end his association with the club because he could not avoid the abyss of Tercera. At the end of that season, the architect of the staff of the last three seasons, David Comamala, would also be dismissed. The Figueres would make the jump to professional football with Nàstic and leave a vacancy for the technical secretary.

In a firm commitment to incorporate players from the demarcation of Girona, the club appointed Sergi Raset in the position. With his time at Girona, Raset had a wide command of players in the area. Since its arrival in volcanic lands, Girona has had its ups and downs, with two promotions, but also one relegation. In six years he has seen up to eight coaches parade, a fact that indicates that the stay has been turbulent. Olot’s bench has lacked continuity, since only with Raúl Garrido commanding the ship has a coach spent more than one season at the club.

Ramon Calderé was the first tenant chosen by Raset. A firm and determined bet that culminated in promotion and a big party. The #CalderemHistòria was a fact and the team returned to Segona B. The Tarragona did not continue and Martín Possé would lead Olot in the return to the bronze category. The results did not follow and a triumph in only fourteen days was too big a slab that meant dismissal. Garrido would arrive and with him, stability. The Valencian coach saved the team from relegation with that indelible Barnils goal at the last minute at Municipal. More than 100 matches led the duo formed by Garrido and Kevin Martínez at the Garrotxa. Moments of very good play and the eternal doubt about what would have happened in the 19-20 season if Covid had not stopped the spectacular dynamics of the Olotins. The following season he would end up being dismissed in a decision that is still controversial among certain fans. The results were not good and Gabri Garcia was chosen. There was no reaction and the former Barça and Ajax player would not make it to the end of the course. Miquel Àngel Muñoz would take over to rub the feat of salvation in the last games. The team finished third, with a double relegation due to the remodeling of categories.

As in 2016, the objective was to go up and Albert Carbó took the reins of the project. The man from Perala led the league for many days, but in the first small setback, he was dismissed. Manix Mandiola would take the place and achieve the coveted promotion. The Basque was dismissed after the defeat with Atlético Saguntí and Jonathan Risueño has been the last name on Raset’s list.

Eight coaches in six years which have turned the Olot bench seat into one of the hottest and most unstable in the demarcation. Time will tell if Risueño is another victim of poor results or the cornerstone of a stable project.
