The defendant contextualized before Judge Margarida Alves how the Football Leaks blog was born, saying that it was born from a conversation with friends in Prague, and admitting that the information that led to the idea of ​​​​creating the Football Leaks project came about “through illegitimate access”.

“Football Leaks was my idea, it was the brainchild of me. This idea occurred not in Budapest, but in Prague, where some friends and I were drinking a few pints of beer and talking about football, about a FIFA corruption case , of TPO (third party ownership) schemes”, declared Rui Pinto.

The defendant refused to clarify who his friends were and who made the first undue hits.

At the trial Rui Pinto also claimed that despite the publications based on computer attacks on Doyen and Sporting dating back to 2015, the RP3 disk, which was seized from him in Budapest, “was created in September 2016”.

“This device was not bought by me, it was not configured by me”, said Rui Pinto, adding that the RP3 device in the file “is a clone”. “My only MacBook Pro has a different serial number than the computer from which the RP3 was cloned,” he said.

In his interrogation, Rui Pinto also denied having used several of the computer programs found on the devices that were seized from him, and identified in the indictment, although confirming the use of others. strong risk of committing crimes,” he said.
