In front of a packed stadium, a new edition of the National Closing Tournament of the Argentine Judo Confederation (CAJ) closed last night, this time and after fifteen years, in the red land and with the Puerto Piray Municipal Sports Center as a stage.
Under the organization of the Missionary Federation (FMJ), the local Municipality and the Provincial Government, The contest brought together around 4,000 people, including athletes, coaches and companions, who took over Puerto Piray since Thursday.
In that context, the championship received the visit of the governor Oscar Herrera Ahuad, who highlighted the economic movement that generated the event for the region and ratified the commitment to sport as one of the axes of development.
“Piray clearly reflects the will to support sport as a flag of growth, development and added value for the peoples. I always say that there are no small towns or large towns, because each town has its strength”, stressed the president, who was accompanied by the mayor Mirtha Lezcano; the president of the FMJ, Javier Galeano; and the boss of the CAJ, Oscar Cassinerio.
During his visit, Herrera Ahuad highlighted the mutation that Piray is leading, which ceased to be a town centered on a factory “to have a State policy that seeks equal opportunities”, after which he announced that the new Piray sports center -currently under construction- will be finished by the first half of 2023.
On the other hand, in terms of sports, the missionary delegation harvested innumerable medals in the different categories and at the close of this edition, he was going for more in the last competitions.
In this sense, the red land won three bronzes in Infantil A at the hands of Mateo Gustamante, Maira De Melo and Sofía Genes; two bronzes in Infantil B with Darla Benítez and Milagros Bevilaqua, as well as a silver with Xiomara Maidana; three silver with Janna Aguirre, Cecilia Millán and Aylén González in Junior Novice, where Ericka López was bronze; and two silvers in Men with Gabriel Fontana and Eric Gustamante, in addition to the bronze obtained by Marcos Dos Santos.
In addition, they also added metals Ángel Navarro (bronze in Graduate Cadet), Sofía Cardozo (bronze in Graduate Cadet), Itatí Benítez (gold in Novice Cadet), Constanza Núñez (silver in Graduate Cadet) and Alma Cardozo (bronze in Novice Cadet).
As for the major division, the Senior, Francisco Galeano stood out again with a bronze in the category up to 73 kilograms, while the revelation was Aylén González, who despite being Junior debuted in Senior with a bronze in up to 52 kilograms.
In addition, in Graduate Kio, Elías Machado was bronze, Eric Gustamante won gold and Francisco Gustamante was bronze, while Constanza Núñez and Cecilia Millán were also gold, while Sofía Cardozo won bronze.
