Judo: Marie Branser abandons Congolese nationality and opts for Guinea.

Marie Branser, Congolese judoka of German origin, gives up the Congolese sports nationality and opts for the Guinean nationality. The 29-year-old athlete says he was the victim of fraud, racism and negligence on the part of the Congolese Judo Federation (FENACOJU) and this, in complicity with the two supervisory bodies, the Congolese Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sports. .

Despite his audience with the Minister of Sports and Leisure, Serge Khonde, including the African Judo Union, it did not change his situation and no one came to help him to take care of his career. She was not registered in any competition in the DRC and had not participated in any international competition since the Tokyo Games.

It should be noted that Marie Branser, who had opted for Congolese nationality in 2019, had validly defended the Republic by winning the gold medal at the 2020 African Judo Championships in Antananarivo and the 2021 African Judo Championships in Dakar. In June 2021, she officially qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics (postponed to 2021 due to the Covid-19 health crisis) organized in Tokyo to represent the DRC. Initially announced as the flag bearer of the Congolese delegation, she had been removed from the role at the last minute.
