League Cup: Elkan Baggott injured, Gillingham challenged Wolverhampton Wanderers, Manchester City face Liverpool

Gillingham again have to meet a steep road to go further in the League Cup, because they have to meet the Premier League club again.

The success of Gillingham being the only lower caste team to survive in the League Cup must be paid dearly. Elkan Baggott is threatened with missing against Northampton Town, Saturday (12/11) night WIB, at Priestfield Stadium in the English League Two continuation.

When eliminating English Premier League club Brighton with a score of 6-5 on penalties, Baggott appeared until the referee blew the long whistle. However, Baggott seemed to be limping a few minutes before the game ended.

Manager Neil Harris has not been able to confirm Baggott will return to play this weekend. But he is not too worried about it, because another barrier Max Ehmer certainly can be used, because he missed the match against Brentford due to card accumulation.

“We have to see how [kondisi] Elkan Baggott. He limped off for the last few minutes,” Harris said Kent.

Harris praised all the players who have shown good performance and determination. At least, the success of qualifying for the fourth round can be a motivator for players in the midst of minor results in the previous five matches in League Two.

“We need that, we need something to trigger us. We are in a dark place as a football club at the moment. We need help. All that is going on, and hopefully there are brighter horizons ahead. We need that,” Harris added.

Meanwhile, based on the draw, Gillingham will meet another Premier League club currently in the relegation zone, Wolverhampton Wanderers, in the fourth round.

The fourth round will also present a prestigious match when Manchester City have to face Liverpool. While The Citizen’s neighbors, Manchester United, serve Championship division club, Burnley. The fourth round match is scheduled to take place on December 19.
