This Sunday, November 27, Valencia has celebrated the VI March against Gender Violence, a day to raise awareness among the population about sexist attacks and give visibility to the victims. The event has been a complete success in terms of participation, to which nearly 2,500 residents of the city have joined to vindicate a social problem such as sexist violence through a sporting activity.
The march began at 10:00 a.m. from the Paseo de la Alameda, between the Bridge of the Exhibition and the Bridge of Flowers, where the starting area was located. The 5,500-meter route has led the participants to tour the entire Ciutat Vella, crossing places such as Calle Colón, Calle Xátiva, Guillem de Castro and Blanquerías.
The day was accompanied by different recreational and charitable activities for the whole family to have fun with badge creation workshops, the classic face painting, crossword puzzles, ‘pasapalabra’, zumba classes, batukada, photocall and a message board against violence against gender. In addition, the event has had stands with information and the sale of t-shirts, bibs, bracelets and all kinds of charity merchandising where all the proceeds went to the Alanna Association.
As it is an event that is both sporting and demanding and supportive, attendees have also been able to enjoy practicing different sports such as: paddle tennis, karate, handball, hockey, water polo, baseball, chess, jump rope, rugby, judo, orienteering, exhibitions of skate or parkour.
This has been possible thanks to the respective federations and clubs of these sports that have joined this special day, such as the Valencian Community Padel Federation, the Valencian Community Hockey Federation, the Judo Federation, the of Handball, the Piratas València club, Turia Waterpolo, Turia Rugby or the Benicalap Kárate Club through their respective federations, as well as Urbns (Skate), Motion Academy and Tobukao. The role of entities such as Coca-Cola and El Corte Inglés in organizing the event has also been important.
