Osttirol’s judo offspring pointed strongly to osttirol-heute.at

The athletes of the Judo Union Osttirol secured five gold, seven silver and six bronze medals in Pinzgau as well as other good placings.

After a break of more than two years, the Judo Union Pinzgau was able to organize the Tauern tournament for young judokas again on November 6th. 158 athletes from 10 Salzburg and Tyrolean clubs gladly accepted the invitation from Rupert Rieß, icon of judo and chairman of the Judo Union Raika Pinzgau.

The motto of the tournament was “Courage-Respect-Strength”. The young judoka showed their coaches and the many spectators in the sports hall in the Rauris school center truly exciting and courageous fights. The Judo Union Raiffeisen Osttirol was very well represented with 34 fighters. With 5 times gold, 7 times silver and 6 times bronze, the young East Tyrolean judoka even ended up in first place with 147 points in the club ranking – ahead of the JU Hallein-Golling (133 points) and the JU Pinzgau (123 points).

Elinor Resinger (U10), Eline Waldner, Noah Brunner (both U12), Benjamin Payer and Natalie Poppeller (both U14) were rewarded with the gold medal and a nice trophy for their outstanding performance.

Mia Riepler (U10), Rosa Hutter, Anja Fuetsch, Hugo Danielian, Leonhard Niederegger (all U12) as well as Lina Hutter and Franziska Oppeneiger (both U14) won a silver medal.

Jakob Jurak, Mathias Payer, Max Pirker (all U10), Lea-Marie Resinger, Nika Poppeller (both U12) and Andreas Libiseller (U14) made it onto the podium with a bronze medal.

Philipp Mattersberger, Mia Schwarzl, Paul Unterberger, Paul Reiterer, Maria Sharova, Benjamin Trojer, Anna Lamprecht, Alois Niederegger and Leo Riepler each fought for 5th place. Natalie Wibmer, Timo Kurnik, Selina Wibmer and Marie Steiner secured 7th place. With 9th place, Sophie Dobernik, Matteo Nussbaumer and Gabriel Trojer also achieved a top ten result.

The support team around deputy chairman Mario Riepler was proud of their protégés: “Our young judoka not only train hard, they are also little heroes. They really rocked the Tauern tournament.”
