A 11e straight home win for the Bruins
David Pastrnak scored twice as the Boston Bruins tied an NHL record after beating the Chicago Blackhawks 6-1 on Saturday night.
It was the 11e home win for the Bruins to start the season, tying the Chicago Blackhawks in 1963-64 and the Florida Panthers in 2021-22.
Patrice Bergeron, Jake DeBrusk, Taylor Hall and David Krejci threaded the needle for the Boston troupe. Charlie McAvoy was involved in four of his goals.
Little tested during the clash, Jeremy Swayman blocked 17 shots. He was playing his first game since injuring his left knee.
Taylor Raddysh moved the ropes on the power play for the Blackhawks, who suffered a third loss in a row.
Petr Mrazek stopped 37 pucks.

The Devils continue their winning streak
Akira Schmid blocked 25 shots and the New Jersey Devils had 12e straight win on Saturday, beating the Ottawa Senators 5-1.
The Swiss was on his way to a first career shutout when Derick Brassard beat him late in the second period, at 17:29.
The Devils are one win away from tying their best streak in franchise history, which came in 2000-01. They will be back home on Monday to face Edmonton.
Erik Haula, Nathan Bastian, Jesper Boqvist, Yegor Sharangovich and Michael McLeod scored in the game.
Haula scored with a one-timer at 7:10 in the first period.
It was a first goal with New Jersey for the 31-year-old Finn. Bastian doubled the cushion at 15:52 in the first period.
He took advantage of a rebound coming from a shot from the slot, right after a face-off won by the Devils.
Boqvist’s net was also the result of a rebound, at 3:00 in the second period.
Sherangovich made it 4-1 shorthanded late in the second period on a rebound from Nico Hischier.
The sequence began when Tim Stutzle lost the puck at the opposing blue line. McLeod put the finishing touches in an empty net.
Anton Forsberg stopped 15 of 18 shots before giving way to Cam Talbot. The latter made a brilliant save with the glove against Bastian, late in the second period, obtaining a total of 16 saves.
The Senators begin a four-game trip out West on Monday. They will play in San Jose, Las Vegas, Anaheim and Los Angeles.
Claude Giroux saw one of his shots hit the post in the first period, during a power play for the Senators. Schmid made three solid saves during the superiority.

Goligoski plays heroes in overtime against the Hurricanes
Alex Goligoski played heroes by scoring at 1:12 in overtime as the Minnesota Wild cruised to a 2-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.
Goligoski, who was honored before the match for taking part in his 1000e NHL game earlier this season, scored his first goal of the season.
Sam Steel had a goal and an assist while Filip Gustavsson stopped 20 shots. The Wild snapped a three-game losing streak.
Sebastian Aho scored in a second straight game for the Hurricanes, who lost for the first time in six games while leading after two periods.
Rookie Pyotr Kochetkov blocked 19 shots for the Hurricanes, missing out on the opportunity to become the eighth goaltender in NHL history to win his first six career games.

Benn scores three points as Stars beat Islanders 5-2
Jamie Benn scored the game-clinching goal in the third period and had two assists to help the Dallas Stars prevail 5-2 at the expense of the New York Islanders on Saturday.
Mason Marchment, author of a goal and an assist, Radek Faksa, Jason Robertson and Jani Hakanpaa also hit the target for the Stars.
The Texas outfit won a second straight game and extended their lead atop the Central Division to three points. They are ahead of the Colorado Avalanche and the Winnipeg Jets.
Tyler Seguin and Joe Pavelski each had two assists, helping Seguin surpass the 700 career point mark. Jake Oettinger stopped 27 shots to improve his record to 7-2-1.
Mathew Barzal scored his first two goals of the season for the Islanders, having had 19 assists in his first 18 games. Semyon Varlamov blocked 31 shots in the loss.

The Blues defeat the Ducks 6-2 and sign a 6e straight win
Pavel Buchnevich had two goals and three assists as the St. Louis Blues extended their winning streak to six with a 6-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday.
The Blues set a record for the longest winning streak in NHL history by a team immediately after losing at least eight straight in regulation. The Blues have been defeated in eight consecutive games between October 24 and November 8, which is also a club record.
It was the first career five-point game for Buchnevich, who dominated the game with help from linemates Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas. Thomas scored a goal and had two assists while Kyrou was an accomplice to three goals.
Brayden Schenn had a goal and an assist, and Noel Acciari and Torey Krug also rocked the ropes for the Blues. Jordan Binnington made 30 saves.
Cam Fowler and Adam Henrique each had a goal and an assist for the Ducks, who have lost five of their last six games. John Gibson stopped 24 shots before being replaced by Anthony Stolarz early in the third period.

Tristan Jarry shines and the Penguins shut out the Jets 3-0
Tristan Jarry was perfect on 32 shots and the Pittsburgh Penguins shut out the Winnipeg Jets 3-0 on Saturday night.
Jason Zucker, Bryan Rust and Jake Guentzel hit the mark for the Penguins.
Rust scored the insurance goal as Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck lost the puck to Sidney Crosby, who quickly spotted his teammate.
Guentzel sealed the game by scoring into an empty net with just 3.5 seconds remaining.
Hellebuyck saved 29 of the 31 pucks he faced in front of the Jets net.
After two periods without a goal, Zucker opened the scoring from the 53e second of the last third. He accepted a pass from Evgeni Malkin before foiling Hellebuyck over the shoulder.

The Sabers bend their backs for an eighth straight game
Mitch Marner had two assists to extend his point streak to 12 games as the Toronto Maple Leafs edged the Buffalo Sabers 5-2 on Saturday.
Because of this setback, the Sabers lost their back in their eighth consecutive game.
William Nylander scored twice while John Tavares, with a goal and two assists, Calle Jarnkrok and Mark Giordano also blackened the scoresheet for the Maple Leafs (10-5-4).
Matt Murray made 32 saves as the Leafs improved to 6-1-2 in their last nine games.
Marner, who has three goals and 14 assists in that streak, is the second player in club history to score points in 12 consecutive games on multiple occasions, along with Lorne Carr (14 games in 1942-43 and 13 in 1943-1944).
The winger had a 13-game point streak last season.
Alex Tuch and Casey Mittelstadt provided the response for the Sabers (7-11-0), who haven’t had a point since Nov. 2.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 18 shots in his first start of the campaign after being recalled from the American Hockey League due to Eric Comrie’s injury.
The Sabers will resume the collar in Montreal, Tuesday, to face the Canadian.

Filip Hronek scores twice as Red Wings beat Blue Jackets 6-1
Filip Hronek scored twice in the second period and the Detroit Red Wings outscored the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-1 on Saturday night.
Dylan Larkin had a goal and two assists for the Red Wings, which earned a second straight road win. Ben Chiarot, Dominik Kubalik and Tyler Bertuzzi also found the back of the net.
Moritz Seider had three assists while Lucas Raymond and Andrew Copp both had two for the Detroit squad.
Ville Husso blocked 26 pucks in his team’s victory.
Emil Bemstrom replied for the Blue Jackets. Joonas Korpisalo made 31 saves.

Cale Makar scores and the Avalanche shut out the Capitals 4-0
Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon scored, Alexandar Georgiev made 32 saves and the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Washington Capitals 4-0 on Saturday for a second straight win.
MacKinnon also had two assists for the defending Stanley Cup champions. Andrew Cogliano and Artturi Lehkonen also hit the target for the Avalanche.
The Avalanche have won six of their last seven games despite missing several team members with injuries, including captain Gabriel Landeskog, winger Valeri Nichushkin and defensemen Samuel Girard and Bowen Byram.
Darcy Kuemper, who was the Avalanche’s starting goaltender in their Stanley Cup conquest, stopped 25 shots.

Flames beat Panthers in shootout
Rasmus Andersson scored in the fifth round of the shootout as the Calgary Flames edged the Florida Panthers 5-4 on Saturday night.
It was the first meeting between the two teams since making a major trade over the summer on July 22.
The Flames traded forward Matthew Tkachuk for forward Jonathan Huberdeau and defenseman MacKenzie Weegar.
Adam Ruzicka had two goals and an assist for the Flames. Nikita Zadorov and Blake Coleman also scored in regulation time.
Colin White, Sam Reinhart, Eetu Luostarinen and Tkachuk replied for the Panthers. Tkachuk forced overtime to tie the game with 6:14 remaining.
Jacob Markstrom of the Flames and Spencer Knight of the Panthers both finished the game with 31 saves.
