Underwear revolution at Wimbledon

Recently, the topic was hotly debated – now a decision has been made!

In Wimbledon, the longest-established tennis tournament in the world, all-white playing attire is actually a requirement. But from next year, this provision should no longer apply, as the organizers of the lawn classic announced on Thursday.

After consultation with everyone involved, it was decided to also allow dark underwear – a real underwear revolution!

Recently, the way athletes manage their periods during competition has received more and more attention. Players have complained that having to play in all white puts them under mental stress during their period.

British player Alicia Barnett (29/60th in the WTA rankings) spoke openly about exactly this burden during this year’s tournament.

Judy Murray (63), mother of former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray (35), had asked in an interview with the British “Daily Mail” that Wimbledon, like other major sports, finally had to become more women-friendly.

The Scot: “One of the biggest problems in sports used to be that in many sports there were always white shorts, white jerseys and so on. Everything was white. Now almost all sporting events have switched to color.”

The organizers of the lawn classic in London have now also complied with this. Wimbledon will take place from July 3rd to 16th next year.
