The Lanzarote Racket Club is crowned in the Canarias Top TTR Arrecife

Arrecife hosted the Canarias Top TTR Arrecife national badminton tournament organized by the Lanzarote Racket Club under the tutelage of the Canarian Badminton Federation and the Spanish Badminton Federation.

The massive turnout and the number of matches to be played forced the matches to be played at the Blas Cabrera Felipe, on Saturday and Sunday, and at the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote, in this case only on Saturday.

The courts, suitable for the cache of the tournament, already advanced before the event the quality that it would have, being disputed in the sub 11, sub 13, sub 15, sub-19 and popular categories, with a wide participation of Lanzarote Racket Club players who obtained a total of 15 medals.

In the men’s Under 11 category, the island won two bronze medals. Jorge Betancort fell in the semifinals against Bruno Peralta of CD Badminton Tiguaneje 15-4 and 15-7, while Noah Martí fell in the other semifinal against Andrés Hernández of CD Ohada Flick 15-6 14-16 15-10.

Also within the Sub 11 category came the first gold, in this female case, after defeating Samyra Méndez against Irene Socorro of CD Pajarito Playas de Tuineje by 14-16 15-8 15-12. In the same category, female sub11, Esmeralda Estefanía Castillo won the bronze after falling in the semifinals with her partner Ana Samyra Méndez 8-15, 15-11 and 15-8.

In men’s doubles under 11, the Lanzarote Racket Club won two more medals. This category was played in the all-against-all mode, with the couple formed by Ian González and Noah Martí winning the silver by winning two of the three matches and the bronze by José Pablo Bohórquez and Daniel Hernández who won one of the three matches played.

The same format also had women’s doubles with the same result for the Lanzarote interests, a silver and a bronze. Eva María Bohórquez and Vera García achieved the silver medal by winning two of the three matches, while Legna Arranz and Marina Morales hung the bronze by winning 1 of 3 matches played.

I did change the format in the mixed doubles competition where the final had a clear color from Lanzarote. The couple formed by Jorge Betancort and Esmeralda Estefanía Castillo won the gold by beating their clubmates Aythami Fernández and Ana Samyra Méndez 15-13, 11-15 and 15-6 in the final.

The Lanzarote Racket Club won more medals in the U-15 category. Adrián Carabali could not beat Pablo Gómez from Tenzul El Rosario in the final, losing 21-13 and 21-11, having to settle for the silver medal.

Graciela Muggler had better luck when she beat Alejandra Serra from Tenzul El Rosario in the final by 13-21, 21-11 and 21-15. Gabriela would once again climb to the top of the podium partnering with Martina Negrín and managing to beat Ylenia González and Irene Martín from Tenzul El Rosario 21-17 and 21-19 in the U-15 women’s doubles final.

The last medals for the Lanzarote team came in the women’s Under 19 category. In singles, Irene Rodríguez won the gold after beating Solimar Cabrera from Tenzul El Rosario 21-12 and 21-18, while in doubles the duo formed by Ainara Yoana Olivero and Denisa Viviana lost in the final against Solimar Cabrera and Naiala Rolo from Tenzl El Rosario hanging the silver around his neck.

In short, a great weekend for Lanzarote badminton that won five gold medals, 5 silver medals and 5 bronze medals in a national category event.
