Figure of show business during his great years, Mike Tyson included among his circle of friends the late Tupac Shakur. In an interview, he also hinted that he could possibly have prevented the death of the legendary US rapper.

Remaining for many years at the top of his discipline, he not only managed to forge an international reputation, but also to forge strong links with other celebrities of the time. This is how Mike Tyson had the opportunity to meet Tupac Shakur, and to make a good friend of him before his tragic disappearance. He thus happened to enter the ring to the rhythm of his classics:

Mike Tyson’s poignant remorse over Tupac’s death

A great fan of Tupac, Tyson had notably chosen to be accompanied by one of his hits before his fight against Bruce Seldon. It is also following this victory, which the rapper attended, that the latter was the victim of a fatal shooting. A dark episode on which the Kid Dynamite agreed to return to the microphone of VladTVconfessing his big regrets… and even his guilt:

I remember it was a very painful day for me. And then I felt a little guilty for pressuring him to come watch the fight. We were supposed to go out that night. I promised him we’d go clubbing, but I had just had a baby, and his mom wanted me to spend more time with him, so I stayed with the baby at home.

Eager to share a good time with his friend, Tyson therefore failed him during this evening which led to the death of the legendary artist. Without this last-minute change made by the boxer, Pac might have borrowed another vehicle, or simply escaped death, hence Iron Mike’s remorse. However, the latter could also have been among the victims of this tragedy.

Anyway, Tyson obviously keeps a terrible memory of this event, although used to drama:

I know who I am and I know where I come from. This sort of thing often happens in my “world”. It was part of the habit. At the time, I expected someone to die or be injured after my fights. But since it was Tupac and I was very attached to him, it was different.

Killed following a fight by Mike Tyson, Tupac Shakur could have seen his destiny turned upside down if the latter had honored his promise to him. What explain the grief discernible in these words of the legend of the boxing rings.
