MAZATLAN._ Strength, combat tactics and technique, the sensei Joseph Medina Peraza he combined everything, for this reason and for being the “father” of judo in Mazatlan he was recognized posthumously, during the inauguration of the Regional Judo Tournament held in his honor, in the mythical field of Parque Martiniano Carvajal.
With the assistance of around 80 judokas from Culiacán, El Rosario, Santa Fe and Mazatlán, as well as fans, family and friends, the director of the Municipal Sports Institute, Fabiola Verde Rosas, recalled the value of sensei José Medina and ratified his sport support.
“This Institute supports more than 30 different disciplines and of course judo is not far behind. Very cool things are coming in 2023 and judo will be one of the beneficiaries, and soon our Mayor, Édgar González, will be presenting the good news for Mazatlán in sports matters. In the company of sensei José Medina Peraza, son, municipal judo instructor; sensei Eduardo Rivera Medina, coach and president of the Sinaloa Judo Association; Professor Eduardo Salazar Hernández, regional director; Professor Herlinda López Hermosillo, director of ETI 77; athletes, coaches and authorities, carried out the opening ceremony successfully.
In an emotional way, recognitions were given for their outstanding work in the development of judo to the director of Imdem, Fabiola Verde, sensei José Medina Peraza, son, as well as sensei Eduardo Rivera Medina and sensei Javier Federico Torres Suárez.
Among the judokas who participated in the regional meeting was Ana Lucía Álvarez López, four times national champion, who will represent Mexico in the Pan American Judo Championship, which will take place in Panama, from November 21 to 27.
