Vincent Blanchard succeeds Michaël Arpin

SOCCER. For a second consecutive year, the best kicker on the Quebec university football circuit is from the Drummondville region.

Unsurprisingly, Vincent Blanchard, of the Laval University Rouge et Or, was named to the Quebec Student Sports Network (RSEQ) all-star team in the position of precision kicker. This season, the 24-year-old native of Saint-Germain-de-Grantham has dominated the circuit with 15 field goals in 19 attempts and an average of 9.5 points per game. On three occasions, the former Senators of Collège Saint-Bernard and Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy has been named among the players of the week.

Last year, Drummondville resident Michaël Arpin, of the Université de Montréal Carabins, was named the best precision kicker on the Quebec university football scene.

This year, no fewer than 11 Rouge et Or players have been selected as stars. The selection of all-star team members was made by the head coaches of the five league teams.

The RSEQ semi-finals will be held on Saturday. The Rouge et Or (7-1) will host the Concordia University Stingers (2-6) while the Carabins (6-2) will host the Université de Sherbrooke Vert et Or (4-4). The Dunsmore Cup Final will be played on Saturday November 12.
