Mohammed Nouri, the father of Abdelhak Nouri, is very grateful to the Atlas Lions for the beautiful tribute on Tuesday evening after Morocco’s victory over Spain. His entire family was deeply moved by the gesture.
Father Nouri was very touched by the tribute of the Moroccan selection to his son. “This tribute from the Moroccan team, from the staff and the players together, and the tribute from Ajax on the Museumplein. We will never forget that. They still think of Appie, that’s really great,” he says NOS. “The tribute was very emotional for us and the whole family. Respect for the boys and how they did it.”

After the victory of the Atlas Lions over Spain, Mohammed Nouri visited his son to show several videos. “He responds with a smile, raised eyebrows or a wink. That means he is happy. Occasionally he gets emotional, but yesterday it was a smile,” said Father Nouri on the website of Ajax.

The situation of Abdelhak Nouri, who suffered a cardiac arrest in July 2017, is still a source of sadness for the family. “He is now stable and happy. We believe that Allah will heal him,” says his father. “We are religious, we are Muslims, we believe exactly what happens. That also gives us strength.” For example, the word ‘Alhamdulillah’ calms him down. “That word gives us strength. We accept everything that happens, that is our faith”.
