Archery, 2022 ends: Italy’s balance sheet

The Italy of archery ended the 2022 international season with applause. The merits are naturally shared among all the blue archers: from senior to youth, passing through the various divisions and disciplines. From Olympians to compound players, from field and 3D specialists, passing through students and juniors, everyone has given their contribution to keeping Italy at the top of the world rankings. Merit that must be shared with the technical directors and coaches of the national team, with the members of the staff, as well as with the personal technicians of the athletes and the federal management: everyone, as far as they were responsible, did everything possible to allow the protagonists on the field to make to the best. And their efforts paid off in performance.

17 events, 112 medals

Out of 17 international events held, Italy has collected the beauty of 112 medals. A dizzying number considering that the commitments faced were in most cases events of a very high level, such as World Cups, Europeans and major stage events such as the World Cup. The calculation of the overall medals shows that the Azzurri brought already large FITARCO bulletin board 44 gold (22 individual and 22 team), 43 silver (19 individual and 24 team) and 25 bronze (14 individual and 11 team). A huge success if you think that only on a single occasion, in the third stage of the World Cup held in Paris, Italy remained empty-handed.

If the medals that can be ascribed to the Olympic division are overall 41 complete with the European title of the men’s trio, to which are added a gold, three silvers and a bronze at the Mediterranean Games and other heavy podiums for the world ranking in the World Cup, a note of merit also deserves the compound division which has won 35, which would become 41 if we add the podiums obtained by the Paralympic W1. Speaking of National Para-Archery, in 4 events held, the Azzurri have put together 40 podiums. A fundamental viaticum in view of the competitions that in the next season will award the first passes for the Paris Paralympics.

Excellent – and it’s not the first time – also the season of the field and 3D shooting specialists who, in three international adventures (Field World Championships, 3D World Championships and World Games) collected 26 podiums, always obtaining first place in the medal table. The contribution made by the Azzurrini is also certainly significant: the National Youth team was present in three events (European Indoor Championships, Youth Cup and European Youth Championships) and earned 24 medals. The results of the Olympic national team, certainly significant among the stages of the World Cup, Grand Prix, European Championships and Mediterranean Games, bode well for next season. In 2023, all the spotlights will be on the qualifying competitions for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
