World Cup 2022 in Qatar will present the ‘ideal final’ which will bring together Argentina vs France, Sunday (18/12) evening WIB. There is an interesting memory note from that fight.
The final match at the Lusail Stadium will bring back memories of the 1978 World Cup Final which brought together Argentina and the Netherlands when Team Tango emerged victorious.
In that match, both the Netherlands and Argentina were the losing teams in the group phase.
In 1978, Argentina, commanded by Mario Kempes and Daniel Pasarella, made it to the finals with a loss in the group stage, when they were defeated by Italy 0-1.
Meanwhile the Netherlands were beaten 2-3 by Scotland in the same stage that year. A series of minor results forced both teams to qualify in second place for the knockout phase.
Now history is repeating itself in Qatar, when the finalists are the big teams who have stumbled on defeat in the group phase.
Argentina were beaten 1-2 by Saudi Arabia in Group C, and then France, who had to be beaten by Tunisia 0-1 in the final match of Group D.
It will be a new history since 1978 that the World Cup final will be played by two teams who both lost in the group stage.
The World Cup final is confirmed to belong to France after the victory over Morocco 2-0 in the semifinals. The day before, Argentina locked tickets to the final after beating Croatia with a score of 3-0.
Due to this result, Morocco will then face Croatia in the match for third place in the 2022 World Cup which will take place at the Khalifa International Stadium on Saturday (17/12).
