Brazilian men’s and women’s teams win the South American flag football championship – 12/04/2022

The Brazilian men’s and women’s flag football teams did well this Sunday and won the 1st edition of the South American Championship, which took place in Itapecerica da Serra. The Brazilian teams were sovereign and won all games in the competition, three in the group stage and two in the knockout stage.

Big favorites in the competition, the women’s team didn’t have many jobs in the first phase games. The green and yellow team overcame Chile by 54 to 0 and Colombia by 49 to 0. The Brazilian team ended their participation in the group stage with a triumph by 42 to 0.

In the semifinals, Brazil beat Argentina again, this time by 25 to 0. In the big decision, the green and yellow team defeated Colombia by 34 to 12 and lifted the South American trophy.

The men’s team has already had a little more work in their clashes. In the debut, the Brazilians beat Uruguay by 49 to 12. In the second duel, the green and yellow team overcame Argentina by 46 to 13. Ending the group stage, the Brazilian team defeated Chile by 30 to 12.

In the semifinals, Brazil faced Uruguay and won by 38 to 6. In the big decision, the Brazilian team had a lot of difficulties and, in a very disputed match, overcame Argentina by 35 to 33, to take the title of the South American.

The tournament had eight teams, being the selections of Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Brazil in the male, and the selections of Argentina, Colombia, Chile and Brazil in the female. Participating countries are members of the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) in South America.
