Chubut faces a new edition of the EPADE Games

The sports representation of Chubut will be leaving -this Saturday afternoon- from Rawson to the province of Santa Cruz, where from Monday the 5th, the XVI edition of the EPADE Games will be held, organized by the Patagonian Sports Entity.

There will be about 200 young people from Chubut in the under-17 category, who will seek to best represent the province in this Patagonian contest, which unites the six provinces of the region: Tierra del Fuego, Santa Cruz, Chubut, Río Negro, Neuquén and The Pampa.

The athletes from Chubut in the disciplines of athletics, basketball, mountain biking (for the first time), soccer, judo, swimming and volleyball, in both branches, will travel on Saturday afternoon to the different venues in the Santa Cruz province, anticipating the arrival for on Sunday at noon, after which the corresponding accommodation and accreditation procedures will be carried out.

It should be noted that the competitions will take place at the venues of Río Turbio (Mountain Bike), Puerto Santa Cruz (Women’s Soccer), Comandante Piedra Buena (Men’s Soccer), and as the central venue, Río Gallegos (Voleyball, Basketball, Athletics, Swimming and Judo).

From the organization of the event, they indicated that the main opening party will be on Sunday 4 at 7:00 p.m., in the Central Stadium of the Boxing Club of Río Gallegos. Afterwards, each venue will have its particular opening. In Puerto Santa Cruz the act will be on Monday 5 at 10:30, in Puerto San Julián the same day at 2:00 p.m. and in Río Turbio, on Tuesday 6 at 10:30.

The closing ceremony and general award ceremony will take place on Friday, December 9, starting at 8:00 p.m., also in the gym of the Boxing Club of Río Gallegos.

A little history

In this way, the province of Santa Cruz will host the event for the third time in history (the previous ones in 2008 and 2016), where Chubut was runner-up in both.

Throughout the 15 editions disputed, Chubut was on the podium in 11: He was champion twice (2009 and 2011), on seven occasions he was runner-up and on another two times he was third. In the last edition held in La Pampa, our delegation finished in third position.

The province of Río Negro is the clear dominant of this event: it was champion eight times, second time once and third place on three occasions. In addition, it comes from obtaining the last two editions consecutively.

The competition, which will have more than 1,200 athletes in action, will begin on Monday, December 5 in the morning and will last until next Saturday, December 9, the day of the finals and closing ceremony.
