Dani Planells, the best of Santa Eulària

Santa Eulària has paid tribute to its athletes this Tuesday with the Feim Esport Awards. A gala held at the Palacio de Congresos in which the big winner was the deaf athlete, Dani Planells. The jury wanted to recognize a great season in which he achieved an Olympic diploma at the Deaflympics held in Brazil, his Spanish championship and his national record for the 10-kilometer road race, among other outstanding results. Planells was named the best athlete, but representatives of up to 37 sports were also recognized at the gala, as well as other categories such as the best teams or clubs.

Club Náutico Santa Eulalia was recognized as the best club for being an entity that is committed to the development of nautical and aquatic sports and that continues to grow in level and number of athletes and sections, also achieving success both at the Balearic and national levels.

As for the best team, this honor went to the Peña Deportiva women’s futsal team for the historic milestone of their promotion to the Second Division. The coach of this squad, Paula Analía Ezpeleta, was awarded as best coach.

The prize for the best natural person went to Vicente Tur Noguera for his general involvement with sports activities in the municipality, while the best volunteer was José Navarro. The award for best referee went to Laura Juan Ferrer, thus recognizing her work as an athletics judge. Finally, Jardín Mediterráneo has been designated as the best sponsor.

A special mention was also given for merits beyond sports. This year, this award was posthumous and was received by the relatives of Manuel Sánchez Pozo, president of SD Paupérrimos, and closely linked to other clubs in the municipality who passed away in March of this year.

It should be noted that the gala was enlivened with an exhibition of the lower categories of the CB Puig d’en Valls Rhythmic Gymnastics Club as well as by the karate fighter Pedro Román, best athlete in the municipality in 2011.
