Beach Soccer Basics:

The field must be between 35 and 37 meters long and between 26 and 28 meters wide. It will be developed on a smooth surface of sand, leveled and for international competitions the sand must be of fine grain.

Each match consists of three periods of 12 minutes and the breaks between each must not be more than 3 minutes. No beach soccer match can be tied, if this happens a time of 3 minutes is added, followed by a penalty shootout to determine a winner. Match time is stopped when a player is injured or if the referee signals a direct free kick or a penalty.

Each team consists of a maximum of 5 players, one will be the goalkeeper and the match cannot start or will be suspended if there are less than three players on the field. Each team can have 7 substitute players and the number of changes is unlimited.

The use of footwear is not allowed, only elastic protections that do not completely cover the ankles and fingers.

For each match there are two referees and there are three types of cautions: yellow card to warn players, blue card to suspend players for two minutes and red card for expulsion from the match.
