Indian Ocean Island Games 2023, the cities where the games will be played are now known

The 11th edition of the Indian Ocean Islands Games (IOIG) will take place in Madagascar from August 23 to September 3, 2023. Four cities have been chosen to host the twenty-three disciplines.


After 1990 and 2007, the Big Island is once again hosting the Indian Ocean Island Games which will start in August 2023. Since yesterday and until tomorrow, takes place in Antananarivo lhe meeting of the International Games Council (ICJ) in the presence of the seven member countries.

Madagascar, Mayotte, Comoros, Reunion, Mauritius, Maldives and Seychelles have agreed on the dates of the games, namely from August 23 to September 3, 2023, but also on the sites where the competitions will be played. The 23 sports disciplines will be contested in the capital in Antananarivo, and in the cities of Majunga, Sainte-Marie and Fort-Dauphin.

The capital will host athletics, basketball, judo, weightlifting, football, handball, boxing, kickboxing, badminton, wrestling, archery, pétanque, tennis, pétanque , cycling, rugby.

The city of Majunga will take care of beach volleyball, beach soccer, swimming, volleyball, taekwondo and karate. Sainte-Marie will host the sailing competitors, and Fort-Dauphin those of the surfing.
