Laffont starts his season with a second place

France’s Perrinne Laffont finished second in the opening World Cup stage behind Australia’s Jakara Anthony.

2018 Olympic champion, French Perinne Laffont, took second place in the opening stage of the Mogul Skiing World Cup in Ruka (Finland) on Saturday, behind reigning Olympic champion, Australian Jakara Anthony .

Best qualifying score in the morning, then the first run of the final, Laffont was overtaken by Anthony in the second decisive passage, reserved for the six best skiers. She obtained a total of 78.33 points, three points less than the Australian, credited with 81.69 points.

The Japanese Anri Kawamura completes the podium of this first event.

The two other French women qualified for the final, Fantine Degroote and Camille Cabrol, ranked 13th and 16th respectively.

Canadian Mikaël Kingsbury, three-time Olympic medalist, dominated the men’s event. The Frenchman Ben Cavet did not pass the qualifying cut (19th). Unlike Martin Suire, finally sixteenth.

The next stages of the World Cup are scheduled for next weekend in Sweden, in Idre Fjäll, and the following one in Alpe d’Huez.
