Lakers release Matt Ryan

Matt Ryan’s stage in the Los Angeles Lakers has come to an end. As reported by Shams Charania, a journalist from The Athleticthe Californian franchise has decided to do without the services of the forward, who will stop wearing gold and purple after two months in the team and eleven games played.

Ryan joined the Lakers in preseason, and earned a place in the final squad thanks to the fact that he had a much-needed virtue on this team: outside success. His triples were a breath of fresh air in a squad that at times seemed incapable of converting any, and in fact he went so far as to dress up as a hero one early morning with a shot of three on the buzzer against the Pelicans that made him force an extension that the Lakers they would end up winning. However, it soon became clear that this was his only possible contribution, and that the shortcomings of his game complicated his presence on the court and made him a null factor if he did not score three.

As Ham has been recovering members, Ryan has been disappearing from the rotation, to the point that he has only had minutes in three of the last nine games, all of them when those games were already sentenced. In view of this situation, the Lakers have decided that it is better to free up a hole in the roster that they can use during the transfer market.

In this way, Matt concludes his time in Los Angeles with averages of 4.3 points and 1.3 rebounds in 11 minutes and with a 38.2% accuracy rate on three-pointers. Since his contract was not guaranteed, the franchise will also save the remaining portion of the $1.6 million he signed before the season began.
