Lautaro Midón shouted champion with BALTC

The men’s team of the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club was crowned champion of the First Division Interclubes of the Argentine Tennis Association, while San Lorenzo did so among the women. Both finals were played on the fast court of the Tennis Club Argentino and the teams received the trophy at the hands of Agustín Calleri, President of the AAT; and César Francis, Administrative Secretary of the institution.

And Lautaro Midón (18 years old) from Corrientes was part of the champion team. He played two matches, both in doubles and in the company of Andrés Molteni.

In the first of the matches, the pair beat Leonardo Aboian and Esteban Djinbachian, representatives of Darling Tennis Club, 6-2, 6-1, during the base round.

In the quarterfinals of the contest, Midón-Molteni had action again. They beat Lucas Luini and Manuel Jaimovich of Club Belgrano by a double 6-2.

BALTC defeated Harrods Gath & Chaves by forfeit in the third point of the final series and became champion again after six years. Thus he added his title number 43 in the Interclubes de Primera, a competition of which he is the most winning team in history.

After Guido Andreozzi’s 6-1 7-6(5) victory over Juan Pablo Ficovich, Tomás Etcheverry sealed the title for his team by beating Ignacio Carou 6-3, 6-3. The decisive doubles was not played due to abandonment by Harrods.

The BALTC champions are: Tomás Etcheverry, Juan Pablo Ficovich, Nicolás Kicker, Andrés Molteni, Román Burruchaga, Martín Cuevas, Fermín Tenti, Lautaro Midón, Santiago Giamichelle, and captain Bruno Tiberti.
