Lionel Messi shares his bed with the World Cup

Staging or real dream night for Lionel Messi? This Tuesday morning, Argentina’s number 10 posted three photos on his Instagram account showing him lying in bed with the World Cup. Snuggled up against the trophy on his pillow, eyes half open or with a cup of mate, the pictures immortalize a night when the Argentinian would have shared his bed with his loot. The mattress doesn’t look the most comfortable, the room isn’t luxurious but the PSG striker needs a rest before the official celebrations of the title in Argentina, scheduled for midday in the streets of Buenos Areas.

Beyond his footballing talents, which allowed him to score twice in the victorious final against France (3-3, 4-2 pens), “Leo” has become a master in the art of networks social. On Sunday, he shared a photo of himself holding up the cup. Since then, this post has garnered more than 57 million likes, breaking the record set on Instagram.

Thanks to this triumph and his seven goals during this Qatari edition, Messi achieved the goal of a lifetime and delighted the Argentine people, who were waiting for successors to the 1986 generation led by Diego Maradona. Surely relieved, the 35-year-old Parisian was very demonstrative during the celebrations. Naturally introverted, he notably climbed on the locker room table after the final, jumping, still trophy in hand. A trophy that he does not even leave at night.
