Last Saturday, two massive judo events were held that brought together 400 athletes of this discipline in the Adolfo Suárez pavilion.
The event was organized by the Judo Federation, with the collaboration of the Alhama de Murcia City Council and the local Judo club. The activities were chaired by Rosa Sánchez, Councilor for Sports, Rafael Alcázar, director of the CAR Region of Murcia and David Romar, president of the Judo Federation.
The large audience witnessed a full day that included the 2nd Alhama Judo Cup in the children’s and cadet categories (individual and by teams) and the Christmas Judo Festival-exhibition. The activities were developed in morning and afternoon sessions.
II JUDO ALHAMA CUP
Approximately 200 judokas from clubs throughout the region gathered to participate in the 2nd edition of the Alhama Judo Cup for the children’s and cadet categories. On this occasion, the competition also included prizes for the best men’s and women’s teams.
It is worth noting the performance of the Alhameños who, in addition, achieved 2nd place by teams in the female children’s category thanks to the first place of Andrea Ortiz (-57 k.) and the 2nd position of Caroline Houdusse (-44 k.). Other notable results were: 2nd Paula Pagán (female cadet -52 k.), 5th Belén Ortiz (female cadet -63 k.) and 3rd Alfonso Sánchez (male cadet -66 k.).
CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL
In the afternoon session, about 200 judokas between the ages of 3 and 12 gathered to participate in two Judo exhibitions for the micro and mini (prebenjamín) categories, as well as the youngest and youngest. Among them, 30 athletes from Alhama who are part of the club’s youth system performed.
The families and companions of the athletes were able to watch from the stands how the little judokas demonstrated their knowledge through games and other playful activities directed by the Federation’s technicians.
At the end of the exhibitions, the judokas received various gifts in anticipation of the Christmas holidays that delighted the youngest.
