NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is coming to Fortnite as the Greek warrior he truly is

After a brief tease from developer Epic Games weeks ago, former NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is officially coming to Fortnite. The Milwaukee Bucks star follows in the footsteps of LeBron James as the only other basketball player to earn a skin in the battle royale. Best of all, Antetokounmpo will soon be available in two different variants, each heavily inspired by his legacy.

As revealed by Hypebeast, two Icon Series skins for Giannis Antetokounmpo will launch within the Fortnite Item Shop on December 24 at 7:00 PM ET, with their sales expected to last beyond the new year. The first of these skins features the world-class athlete in a stylish vest emblazoned with the Bucks color, although additional styles allow his clothing to have interchangeable Nigerian tribal patterns. Meanwhile, the other group imagines Antetokounmpo in Greek-themed black and gold armor while also lending him various Spartan helmets.

Like the icons before him, the skins are joined in the shop by a wide range of matching accessories. For one thing, pairs of black wings can be bought and equipped as Back Blings or Gliders. Antetokounmpo’s Spartan skin will also debut his own dedicated shield back bling and spear harvesting tool. Although their prices are not yet known, it is likely that the cosmetics will be sold separately and in packages with the clothes.

It’s even confirmed that Antetokounmpo will bring his own creative map. Epic Games hasn’t revealed what its location contains, but an image indicates that it’s a basketball-themed island made entirely of clouds. The famed ball player is far from the only major pop culture figure to recently join Fortnite’s growing roster of characters. In early December, gamers saw the long-awaited debut of YouTuber MrBeast’s pair of skins and the introduction of My academic heroand All Might and Izuku Midoriya.
