The expansion of the Huércal-Overa Municipal Sports Pavilion will be completed for the next academic year – Almeria News

This Thursday the act of rethinking the expansion of the Municipal Sports Pavilion was signed, an expected performance for the municipality that comes true after several stoppages in it motivated, in recent months, by the Covid 19 pandemic and the rise of prices that affect construction.

The mayor of Huércal-Overa, Domingo Fernández, together with the councilor for Works, Blas Sánchez, and for Services, Andrés Sánchez, have accompanied the managers of the winning company, Lirola, in rethinking the action that is expected to be completed for the next school year. A project framed in the Provincial Plans that has a budget of almost 791,000 euros with which the municipality will have a new sports infrastructure.

Fernández has expressed his satisfaction that “after the second tender for this work, work will begin to make this new warehouse in the Pavilion a reality, which is so necessary, since it will mean ending the saturation that exists due to the different disciplines that are offered from the Sports Schools, improving these services and offering new possibilities in the existing ones”.

The deputy for Public Works, Antonio J. Rodríguez, has highlighted the importance of this work for the promotion of sports activity, this new infrastructure with 2,000 meters of built surface. “Huércal-Overa will have a sports complex that is even more complete than the current one and this investment will translate into more opportunities to practice sports and to promote healthy habits.”

The ship will have multipurpose sports use, it will allow the development of up to eleven different sports modalities: handball, futsal, futsal, hockey, basketball, minibasket, badminton, tennis, badminton, volleyball and small basketball.

With the expansion of the municipal sports complex, the new warehouse will add another 276 seats to the stands for 780 spectators, with the venue having a total capacity to accommodate 1,056 spectators. The new ship will be connected to the current Pavilion.
